When the month of May comes along, we can finally breath a sigh of relief, for the months of bad films are hopefully behind us, and now we can look forward to the summer blockbusters. And to start off the summer hits, Kingdom of Heaven amazes and dazzels.

Kingdom of Heaven is an adventure of a man's struggle to find peace in a strange land. After recieving an oath from his dying father, Bailin (Bloom), goes to Jerusalem to safegaurd the people and find forgiveness from himself. He inherits his father's position and ultimately he must protect the people of Jerusalem for  an overwhelming force that is deemed impossible to defeat.

Director Rdiely Scott brings us back to the gorgeous epic warfare that he defined in Gladiator. the battles are beautiful and enveloped with rage, intensity, and gore. The calvary charge as Bailin leads his knights into battle is so brilliant my jaw was dropped. The final seige on Jerusalem was charged with a fierceness unlike any.

The acting is very well done. Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis and Edward Norton are the stand outs. Orlando Bloom gave a good showing, his best performance yet, but he still has much room for improvement. Liam Neeson, was in the movie for a very short time, but he was still great when he was on screen. Eva Green was better than expected.

The visuals are FANTASTIC!!! The Cinematography during the battles is perfection, and the scope of the armies as the marched on Jerusalem was jaw dropping superb. The costumes definatley desrve recognizing as does the Sound department. Everything was fabulous! The music was extremely excellent. Composer Harry Gresgson-Williams creates some of the finest music ever in an epic film. The quiet operatic singing to the power driven intensity of the music.

Kingdom of Heaven is cenimatic excellency. With some flaws put aside, this film is an excellent work. One of the best films of the year.
