There are a few great heist films out there, dealing the bank robberies, ancient artifacts,
and so on. Some of those great films include: Ocean's Eleven & Twelve, The Score, and The Sting. And now we can to
this proudly add Inside Man to this ever so short list.
Denzel Washington plays a detective that gets assigned to a bank robbery that has hostages,
along with his parnter, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. When they arrive on scene they discover that this bank robber, played
by Clive Owen, is intelligent and very clever. And after as time goes by the detectives learn that this
robbery is not actually all it seems to be.
The story is filled with clever twists and coanical moments of intensity. We as an audience
do not truly know what is going on until the end. Im usually good at figuring out films with clever plots, but even I didnt
know what was really happening. The main reason why this stories like is are so fascinating. The screenplay, which
is the basis of the story is fabulous. There are a few scenes of well place humor, and it carries very witty dialouge. Definatley
one of the best screenplays this year.
The acting is another element I wish to discuss. Clive Owen as the clever bank robber is brilliant,
he just pulls it off so easily and everything from his movement to tone is perfect. Denzel Washington is fantastic as usual,
and in this film his character has more of a sense of humor than his past cop-type roles. Jodie Foster holds her own, but
her character was never really developed, we just accepted the fact that she was there. Chiwtel Ejiofor is great as Washington's
partner. Willem Dafoe, who usually is top notch, was the weakest link, he never really showed emotion in his role.
Inside Man is a great film, one of the best of the year so far. Its plot is clever, the acting
is good, and its different than any other heist oreinted film out there. See it, and enjoy it.
